Description

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) hosts an annual conference obtaining around 4,500 attendees every year. The website for this conference needed a major design upgrade. In the fall of 2014 I approached our Marketing department expressing the need to upgrade the look and feel. After showing them examples of modern conference websites and templates, I collaborated with our lead graphic designer and copywriter to produce a design strategy. Using feedback from additional department stakeholders, we chose a template that we felt would offer a more youthful modern appearance while retaining enough flexibility for the long term.

The template we acquired was originally developed as static HTML. However, I was able to integrate this template into our Sitefinity content management platform. Using CSS and jQuery, I was also able to enhance the responsive design and visual appearance of several features. Additionally, I used ASP.NET to create dynamic functionality for repeatable templated content. Using the graphics and images provided by our Marketing team, I launched the site in December 2014 to promote the 2015 conference. The site observed a 27% increase in web traffic that year.

Every year the site is archived, and a new site is developed on this template with a new color scheme and branded elements representing the theme of the upcoming conference. We received tremendous feedback on this site, and have used this template on additional conference websites including international versions of the conference.

In 2019 we migrated the site to our WordPress platform. After purchasing the WordPress version of the theme, we were able to quickly integrate our design and coding customizations.
